If I combine the information from both posts, this is the understanding that I get:
Your boyfriend filed for divorce six months ago, July 2002, and his wife either did not respond or responded 'after many months'. The attorney for your boyfriend has filed for a judgment by default and by having asked for his W2 is likely preparing the order as it will be when presented to the judge for the judge's signature.
Six months is not an unusual amount of time for a divorce to take, especially if the court is busy. Perhaps this procedure requires that the wife be notified and be given a certain length of time to reply, say 30 to 60 days. Notification and the time provided to reply can 'eat away' at some of those months, during which time the attorney for your boyfriend can only wait until that time is up.
I'm inferring a little fear of his not getting divorced and marrying you. If you believe that your boyfriend is dragging his feet in getting this divorce, especially in light of his being separated from his wife for 8 years, then maybe you need to listen to your inner fears. There may be a reason he doesn't want to leave the safety of not being able to marry again. It will not make for a happy marriage for you and him if he is not ready, willing, and able. A word of advice--We women think we can love a man into changing and we think that after the wedding, he will be the husband we want him to be. Neither of those are true. He will be the same man after the ceremony that he was before the ceremony and you will drive yourself and him crazy if you try to change him.
