Sleeping away from home

My wife has been sleeping at another location with her 16 y/o
daughter for four nights. We do not have a separation agreement YET. Does where you sleep constitute being separated?

I remember that a story where the wife claimed abandament and received all the maritial assets and custody of the children, because the father was sleeping away from the home. This happened in Michigan
