What is the name of your state? Oklahoma
we bought a bow flex last year for a exercise program to loose weight and i was wondering if it could be a write off. Someone told me that it could be.

The IRS now considers obesity a disease (more than 20% overweight). Prescription drugs and the extra costs of a special diet are deductible as medical expenses on Schedule A. The cost of switching from a protien diet to a carbohydrate diet (or vice versa) is not deductible. Exercise machines are not mentioned in the IRS ruling. I'd say that the bowflex is not deductible unless your doctor instructed you to purchase an exercise machine of that type.
