family friend named executor, big mistake. at time we couldn't imagine he would need to be bonded
and we could not afford it. question is, can we still have him bonded since it hasn't gone through
final/end probate ??

I'm not exactly sure what your question is, but in most states if the decedent left no will (intestate estate) the personal administrator must post a surety bond to go through probate.
