Can you please explain the legal obligations of the executor of a will?

Specifically, does the executor have a legal obligation to provide each beneficiary with an itemized inventory of property and assets within an estate, as well as the distribution of those assets?

If so, is there some kind of legal reference I can quote to let him know he can't "b.s." me anymore?

Thank you very much.

You should concult with the Probate Code in your state. In most cases the executor owes a fiduciary duty to the heirs which includes an inventory, appraisal, and final accounting.
