My father passed away in April, 1999. We share a house (legal mother-daughter) with his older sisters. My father was an artist and some of his paintings are hanging in my aunt's house. Are these included in his estate since he never sold nor did he actually give these to her? I wonder if I have any claim on this artwork since she never asked him if she could hang it up.

Personal property, like art, is something separate from real estate. It is part of your father's estate.
