I have duriable medical and power of attorney
over someone and I need to know, if I feel he is making poor decisions about his finances can I step in or would I need to get gaurdianship over him? He has a mental condition. Is gaurdianship hard to get over
someone? Is this where you have to prove that they are incompetent?I live in Missouri.
Thanks.

You have no OBLIGATION to do it just because you have power of attorney, but this is something you should carefully discuss with an Elder Law attorney in your area as in reality what it takes and the practice employed vary tremedouisly from state to state and county to county within a state. Read the section on Elder Law first and then find a lawyer who does that kind of work.
