What is the name of your state? Virginia

My husband and I have separated, but not legally yet. What steps do I need to take in order for the court to accept it as a legal separation? I've heard that marriages without children in VA require only 6 months sep. before divorce.
But I've also heard that if you're married less than a year, you can get the marriage annulled. Is this true? I've tried looking into it, and all I could find on annulments in VA were allowed under certain circumstances.

If anyone can shed some light on these subjects, it would be greatly appreciated. Oh, if we do divorce, it would be an uncontested/ no fault divorce.

Thank you,
makaio14 :)
