WHAT ARE THEIR NAMES?

In celebration of July 4th, and in keeping with this Board, what are the names of two of our Founding Fathers, who were both Presidents, who were both close friends, and who died on the same date? And, on that date, who died before the other? BONUS POINTS: What is the date of death?

No, I meant July 4, 1826! That '26' was on my brain, sorry.

My response:

Excellent, Anne, you are correct. John Adams was our Second President, with Thomas Jefferson as his Vice-President. Of course, Thomas Jefferson was our Third President.

However, you didn't say that it was Thomas Jefferson who died first, one hour before John Adams.

Now, If I was Alex Trebek, I would have had to have accepted your initial answer, and no Bonus Points awarded. But, you get the Bonus points for a timely correction!!
