In reading the code of conduct for attroney's in Illinois it states RULE 1.3 Diligence

A lawyer shall act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing a client.

Adopted February 8, 1990; effective August 1, 1990.

What is considered reasonable dilgence and promptness. What is the time frame don't they have to inform their client of what i happening to them

Reasonable diligence is a fact question. It is decided on a case by case basis. Many factors determine "reasonable diligence" and "promptness."
