From Jacksboro, TN - I am writing on behalf of a local firefighter, who has been wrongly charged with child abuse of his girlfriends small child. Daniel Cooper made headline news for this allegation because he is a firefighter. Although investigation did show that bite marks found on the child were those of the biological mother and her brother, and that the child had spent the previous day with the biological father - this firefighter remains in county jail on this allegation. It is my suspicion that he is being railroaded, because he is not from here, as seems the custom in this county. He has been offered a plea bargain by the local District Attorney, though the case has not been before the local judicial, to accept 65 years in jail for a crime he contends he did not commit, and that which evidence clearly indicate's the child's biological mother and her brother.
This is a sick place, where pre-teenage and teenage girls can cry statuatory rape as revenge for rejection and a young man's life is altered forever - just for saying "no." False allegations must be filed and investigated, no matter what. Innocent individual's are burdened with jail and court costs, as this is a part of how this county collects his funds. But this is by far the worst case - as it is entirely wrong. Being a firefighter makes this man headline news, and around here, that's excitement, that's something to talk about. Right or wrong. Even when the evidence clearly vindicates his innocence.
He desperately needs a lawyer - not from here, and who will secure his release from these allegations and wrongful incarceration.
