Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS):
"NRS 482.545 Certain unlawful acts. It is unlawful for any person to commit any of the following acts:
1. To operate, or for the owner thereof knowingly to permit the operation of, upon a highway any motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer which is not registered or which does not have attached thereto and displayed thereon the number of plate or plates assigned thereto by the department for the current period of registration or calendar year, subject to the exemption allowed in NRS 482.316 to 482.3175, inclusive, 482.320 to 482.363, inclusive, 482.385 to 482.3965, inclusive, and 482.420.

2. To display, cause or permit to be displayed or to have in possession any certificate of registration, license plate, certificate of ownership or other document of title knowing it to be fictitious or to have been canceled, revoked, suspended or altered.

3. To lend to or knowingly permit the use of by one not entitled thereto any registration card or plate issued to the person so lending or permitting the use thereof.

4. To fail or to refuse to surrender to the department, upon demand, any registration card or plate which has been suspended, canceled or revoked as provided in this chapter.

5. To use a false or fictitious name or address in any application for the registration of any vehicle or for any renewal or duplicate thereof, or knowingly to make a false statement or knowingly to conceal a material fact or otherwise commit a fraud in an application. A violation of this subsection is a gross misdemeanor.

6. Knowingly to operate a vehicle which:
(a) Has an altered identification number or mark; or
(b) Contains a part which has an altered identification number or mark."

Your post said that this was a 'gross misdemeanor'. The following would show that this may not be correct and that it was a 'normal' misdemeanor:
"NRS 482.555 Falsification of documents; violation is misdemeanor unless otherwise declared. In addition to any other penalty provided by this chapter:
1. It is a gross misdemeanor for any person knowingly to falsify:
(a) A dealer’s or rebuilder’s report of sale, as described in NRS 482.423 and 482.424; or
(b) An application or document to obtain any:
(1) License;
(2) Permit; or
(3) Certificate of ownership,
issued under the provisions of this chapter.

2. It is a misdemeanor for any person to violate any of the provisions of this chapter unless such violation is by this section or other provision of this chapter or other law of this state declared to be a gross misdemeanor or a felony."

signature,vehicle and -3

My ticket I was issued has "State NRS 482.545 -3" and
"City Ordinance 10.02.010"
Thank You for the response, the Officer did not put his signature upon my citation, nor did he tow my vehicle .
Which is strange (I guess ??!!) .

ON MY GOD!! The only thing that makes you an idiot is getting that officer to sign that ticket!! You could have easily got out of that one...you just begged that officer to enter into a contract with you asking him to sign a paper that convicts you of a "crime"!!
Look up the definition of Transportation: transporting good for compensation or hire. Were you doing that while you were traveling and the officer stopped you?!?
Did you even bother to figure out the details behind why your plates were considered "fictitous" before excepting the fact that the officer is saying your quilty of a crime without probably cause?!?!?
Check out the Transportation Code (which are laws past by and regulated by the legislature which can only regluate commercial and business activity. Which you weren't doing) and then look at your states penal code and you'll evetually see that you weren't doing anything wrong. The law does not require a person traveling on the public roads in their own private capacity to have a driver's license, license plate, state inspection etc. But if you sign a contract with someone...then youve just admitted that your under their jurisdiction subject to Transportation laws!!!!

*** What the hell are you talking about?? A ticket is NOT a contract. And signing a ticket is not a conviction!!

"Look up the definition of Transportation: transporting good for compensation or hire. Were you doing that while you were traveling and the officer stopped you?!?"
*** And what does they (or their definitions) have to do with anything???

"Did you even bother to figure out the details behind why your plates were considered "fictitous" before excepting the fact that the officer is saying your quilty of a crime without probably cause?!?!?"
*** Can anyone figure out what this twit is referring to??

"Check out the Transportation Code (which are laws past by and regulated by the legislature which can only regluate commercial and business activity."
*** And where did you get the idea that 'the' Transportation Code (whatever that is), only regulates commercial and business activity??

"Which you weren't doing) and then look at your states penal code and you'll evetually see that you weren't doing anything wrong."
*** States have far more 'codes' than just transportation and penal. And the original poster was in apparent violation of the charged statute.

"The law does not require a person traveling on the public roads in their own private capacity to have a driver's license, license plate, state inspection etc."
*** WOW, you must have burned up the last few synapses trying to come up with that one...... and they died for such a feeble thought.

"But if you sign a contract with someone...then youve just admitted that your under their jurisdiction subject to Transportation laws!!!!"
*** This is so ludicrous as to defy response!!!

I knew that the loonies were going to come out.... must have to do with Mars being at its closest to us in the last 58,000 years!!

Call me what you like....the law doesnt lie.
Here Ill even help you out a bit: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/statutes/tntoc.html
Here's the Transportation Code for my state. Formally known as Vernons Law....And you tell me since your the expert. What other "laws" are out there other than.....Penal Code (prison code), Civil Codes, Code of Civil Procdures, Code of Criminal Precedures, Constitution and case law....what else is there?
Traffic laws are only found in the Transportation Code. NO WHERE ELSE!! Thats a fact not opinion!!! Show me differently?!?!?!

What else do you call a ticket if its not a contract?

Okay, my child, I will try to make this real easy on you..... for this time.

"Call me what you like....the law doesnt lie."
*** Further evidence of your naivete. The law is constantly moving and being interpreted.. often different than before. And if that weren't the case, there would never be a need for attorneys, courts or judges.

"Here Ill even help you out a bit: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/statutes/tntoc.html"
*** Yes, I am VERY familiar with the Texas Transportation Code.... as well as a lot of other Texas statutes.

"Here's the Transportation Code for my state. Formally known as Vernons Law...."
*** Wrong again. The Texas Transportation Code has been around for a LONG time just as it is. There is, and has never been,a "Vernons Law". You are apparently confused about "Vernons Texas Civil Statutes". This part of the Texas law is to cover session laws and other laws not detailed in the 'major' statutes.

"And you tell me since your the expert. What other "laws" are out there other than.....Penal Code (prison code), Civil Codes, Code of Civil Procdures, Code of Criminal Precedures, Constitution and case law....what else is there?"
Lots of them... in fact, for Texas alone... you can find some of them at:
http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/statutes/statutes.html
And one HUGE issue here.... the original poster was subject to NEVADA codes. Why would you even think that Texas laws would be valid???

"Traffic laws are only found in the Transportation Code. NO WHERE ELSE!! Thats a fact not opinion!!! Show me differently?!?!?!"
*** There is really no way for me to answer this one, since you will say that any answer isn't 'traffic', so let me be real easy... the word "TRAFFIC" is included in LOTS of Texas statutes, including Water, Utilities, Transportation, Parks & Wildlife, Natural Resources, etc., etc...... over 1400 references!!

"What else do you call a ticket if its not a contract?"
*** A ticket is a citation alleging that a party was in violation of a statute. The signing of that citation is purely an agreement by the cited party that they will appear at the time and location designated on the citation.

It is NOT a contract!!! I will try to give you are REAL simple statement to show that your wrong... One of the requirements of a contract is that there be MUTUAL consideration. What consideration is EITHER party getting when a cited individual signs a ticket????

citation
n. a notice to appear in court due to the probable commission of a minor crime such as a traffic violation, drinking liquor in a park where prohibited, letting a dog loose without a leash, and in some states for possession of a small amount of marijuana. Failure to appear can result in a warrant for the citee's arrest.
