What is the name of your state? CA

Last night, some friends and I went to a local school to play airsoft (a combat game in which very low power bb guns are used - 200 - 300fps). Some other people had already been there and apparently also wanted to play, although they did not have guns. They then began jumping in and out of firefights to either get us to stop or shoot them. One claimed to be shot and when home "crying" (everyone who say him could tell he was not really crying). His parents then called the police. They lined us up on the curb and gave us a lecture about it. The police were biased towards the kid and his parents (I guess the word of 12 kids ages 15-19 doesn't mean anything over one kid and parents who didn't witness anything). They took half our guns (the other half we stashed in a car away from the scene) and told us they were being seized as firearms evidence. The total dollar amount of all the guns was equal to about $200. Although that may not seem like alot to some people, at 15 halfway through the summer, most employers won't give you a job based on your age and the time in the summer. Is there anyway that we could get the guns back?

Also, the sherrifs told us that under a new state law, all airsoft guns are considered BB guns, and all BB guns (airsoft included) are considered firearms. He went on to shoot the crap and scare us by saying he could at a whim bring us all in on assault and firearms charges. Can any of this actually be done?

Thanks,
Cameron McEnroe

Yes. Your guns are also as good as gone. They will probably keep them while they investigate the complaint, then when done, the guns will probably be destroyed. Next time, play in your backyard and not in public, especially when your dealing with BB guns. You're lucky some gang bangers didn't come out and shoot you guys up with real guns.

BB guns are not firearms. It is illegal to possess a BB gun on school property. In California a BB gun expels a metallic projectile. The new law prohibits the sales, distribution and importation of toy guns, unless they are painted bright neon green or made of transparent plastic. This law dose not include BB guns or paintball guns.
