Can the courts in Texas require a person
to pay a total ammount of child support
and spousal support that is equal to or
even more than the current take home pay
(for a full work period ) for a full
month? My friend is going through a
divorce and during the pre trial hearing
he was required to pay a combined
ammount that is about 50.00 more than
what he takes home each month.

And the reason he didn't point this out to the judge is??

Courts can impute a certain level of income to a spouse/parent if the court finds that the spouse/parent is voluntarily underemployed.
