I have been taken to court in "Absentia" and found responsable for $18k in back AFDC and Food Stamp payments made to a girl who put my name on a birth certificate in 1976 and now 20 yrs after the fact I am being forced to pay it without even the benefit of a Blood test. I am 100% disabled now also. Can I be exempted because of my disability and lack of income? What can I do? I am in Florida by the way. HELP ME SOMEONE! I am a Vietnam Vet if that helps....HELP!

Depending on whether or not you received adequate notice of the claim, you could be able to get the matter reopened but the burden now may be on you to prove you are not the father.
