If this is an important matter to you, you really do need to be talking with a local probate attorney in your area about it, and take a copy of the will if you have a copy. It is most unlikely that Michigan probate attorney would be reading this message board. Usually contesting should be done within a few months after the will is opened for probate, but in some cases the period could be longer.
