I am from North Carolina and I started a residential framing company in 1995.In 1997, the company went out of business. The other day, my bank notified me that the company had an overdue account that went from approx $250 ( in 1997 ) to approx $1,000 ( because of an 18% interest rate ) - ( it was an overdraft protection for a checking account ) and since then has attached it to me and my wifes current checking account.I have not heard or seen this account since it was , from what I thought, had been closed. My question is this, If a company is incorporated and goes out of business, am I responsible for that debt?
Any help on this matter will be appreciated.Thanks.
