I filed charges today on my ex-boyfriend, but really don't know what to expect. He is currently on probation for a DUI, but he has violated that probation by choking and hitting me outside a restaurant. The Domestic Violence Unit I met with says I have a strong case, so I am sure he will be arrested. What can I expect now? If he has to go to jail to serve the DUI, how long is that? What do offenders typically get for assault & battery? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
