What is the name of your state? Ca.
My husband just received a notice of his wages being garnished from a judgement dated 9-1-94. There was a judgement from that date but during the last 10 years, the attorney for the plaintiff had always contacted me, not my husband(he was my boyfriend back then). They attached my checking account and had only sent me notices. They never once tried to contact him. Now all of a sudden, he gets a garnishment of wages. My questions to you are, 1-can they garnish his wages without first attempting to collect it from him(via a notice and/or bill), 2-it never showed up on his credit report, only mine, is he still responsible, and 3-our case was in orange county but the levying officer is in San Bernardino, don't they have to be in our district.
