What is the name of your state? MA

I got an e-mail from my former roommate saying that we're supposed to go to court on march 11. He said it was a summons, and that the landlord is suing us. I haven't lived there since last november (I broke the lease and haven't paid rent since).

My question is: since I didn't recieve a summons, do I have to go? And if I don't go, what will happen?

If you haven't been served, you don't have to go. But, and this is a big but, you may want to check to see if you have been named in the suit and delivery of the summons was made in another manner other that personal delivery.
