auto repair claim

What is the name of your state? fl

billed for new clutch.....1 month later had problems... it was found by differnet mechanic that clutch was never replaced

all i have is name, address, phone # of business
i cannot find legal owner info, there is no county occ. license, no state registration
can i file without this info?

also, is the leasor of the space accountable in any way if the leasee is operating without occ license or state registration.......

My response:

First, call the Florida Attorney General's Office to find out if Florida has a Bureau of Automotive Repair (like California has) or something similar, and if so, have them do your legwork to investigate this matter.

If Florida doesn't have such a Bureau, then you certainly have enough information with which to file your own Small Claims action against the mechanic.

It's not up to the property lessor to babysit it's tenants. The lessor's job is to rent space, and collect rents. Period.

thank you very much...the florida dept of consumer affairs does have an auto repair complaint section with an online form to fill out...i will do that first and file a small claim
