does anyone know what states give up jurisdiction after the child is gone for 6mo.? i'm looking to see if florida gives it up. a web site that has state jurisdiction laws would help!! some say i have to go back there change custody but the childs been here living and going to school for 7mo.

My response:

You're looking in the wrong places. All states are signatories to the UCCJA - Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act. When a child has resided in any particular state for 6 months or more, the previous state loses jurisdiction and the resident state takes over.
