My husband is charged with criminal mistreatment 1st degree.He is accepting a plea bargain and facing a year in jail. We are expecting the family to attempt a law suit and feel divorce is the best choice .I filed for dissolution of marriage August 8th, he wants me to have all assets. I was told after this filing, that if I file for separation then it will prevent any liens on the assets. Would you advise me to file for seperation as well as divorce? Your advise is greatly appreciated.
