What is the name of your state? NY

A friend and me would like to start a painting business specializing in childrens' bedroom wall murals. We would be using characters such as Dora, Blues Clues, etc. Do we needa licensing agreement to do this?

It depends on what exactly you are going to do. If you buy stickers or the like, for example, and apply them to the walls, then you would likely not have any problems. However, if you are going to be painting the figures themselves, then you will need to check with the trademark owners to find out if this usage is an acceptable usage to them or if you need a license. My guess is the latter, but you never know...

The idea would be to make transparencies and trace them onto the wall and then paint. The source material would probably be a coloring book or the sort.
