What is the name of your state?Michigan
With all the Identity theft that I am hearing about and the fact that I have moved and every form from electricity to cell phone contracts required my social security number to get it. Is this right? Can they ask (require it) for it and do I have to give it? Joel

If they require you to give them your SS# (generally for credit checks) then you must do it. It's not against the law to ask for a SS#.. It's only against the law if they illegally use that number and at that point you would press charges. It's much like a restraining order... cant' do anything about it til something is actually done.
