What is the name of your state?A relative in NY state died 3 years ago. My mother-in-law's sister is the Executor. The estate still has not been settled. The Executor is elderly, incompetent, dis-honest, controlling and she's holding grudges against all 3 of her siblings. The Executor has refused to share a copy of the will with the siblings, although it's known that the estate is to be divided amongst the siblings. No one (other than the Executor) knows how much money is involved. We believe that the total amount of money is less than $100K. The title of the grandmother's house was transferred to her son prior to her death, so we assume that the remaining estate is cash. We suspect that the Executor has transferred the money into her personal account and has mis-invested it, or has been spending it as her own money.
Questions: What can be done to get the Executor removed as Executor and replaced by a third party professional? Can the Executor be held responsible for paying 3 years of interest payments? Assuming that the estate eventually gets settled, how can we find out if all of the money that existed at the time of death gets distributed?
