Use of photograph and copyright
What is the name of your state? NC
I would like to buy royalty free photographs (which I will pay licensing fee for usage) and use them as a base/inspiration to paint oil-on-canvas artwork which I will then resell to my customers. As they will be used as a base, there will be alterations which I will be making when I will be drawing these paintings. Can I use them as a study of the photograph? Is it acceptable in terms of copyright law?
