What happens when a person files a claim against an estate , but passes away before the estate is settled ? lawyer that took over this mess don't know and can't seem to find an answer.

First what is your relationship to the deceased claimant and how is it the attorney doesn't "know"?

Sounds like this is a case for 'another attorney'.

His claim remains.... and is represented by his estate.

krispenstpeter & jetx - it's my father-in-laws estate that has the claim against it(long drawn out mess 2 yrs plus ) and it's in the hands of a second lawyer(since sept.) first lawyer slow at getting things done. the family of the claimant won't respond to this lawyer's letters concerning the claim.
