What is the name of your state? NY
I was wondering if anyone can tell me when a married couple breaks up, if they purchased a vehicle while they were married, the husband paid for it on his own while they were split up since the wife has another vehicle, and even though the loan, insurance, & registration was in the wifes name, who's car is it???

But I thought as long as they buy it while they're married, legally it's both of there's. I thought that's how New York state statutes were for being married. Anything purchased in a marriage is both persons, isn't that correct?

And if it was hers to take it back, when they file for a divorce, can he go after her for the car and all the money he spent on paying for it and all the money he put into it, such as special muffler, tires, tinting windows..etc????
