I was insured for disability through my employer when I became disabled in 03/2001. I have been determined to be disabled by SSA. I have not tried to claim any insurance benefits in the past. Is it too late? Do I have any recourse?

This is less a legal question than a contractual one. How long does the policy say you have to claim benefits? And why on earth did you not put forth a claim previously?

BTW, just because the SSA has deemed you disabled does not necessarily mean that you will qualify under your employer's insurance policy. The law does not require that private insurances use the same definition of "disabled". Please note that I am not saying you WON'T qualify; just that the employer's policy does not necessarily insure for the same things as the SSA.
