What is the name of your state? IL
My soon to be ex-wife and I are working on a settlement agreement so we can get the divorce over and done with. One of the things she's asking for is about $1,500 since she is "upside-down" on the value of her car. When we split up, I took our pickup (which had the higher monthly payment) and she took the sedan. I traded the truck in a few months ago for a newer truck (and a slightly lower payment). The truck was worth about $5500 which was what I owed on it, so it was a wash by trading it in. The car on the other hand is probably worth about $7,000 and she owes around $10,000 on it. Can she come after me for that? It was her choice to take that vehicle. Can I go after her for the $7,000 I'm upside down on my new truck in that case?
I hate this...
