What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? VA
My mother passed away July, 2003. She died intestate. My sister had power of Attorney over my mother for the last 9 years. It has been found out that she did not pay some of my mother debts that was at least 7 years ago. My mother had more than enough money to pay all her bills when she was living with my sister and her family. We later had to put her in a nursing home the last 3 years of her life. All of those debts was taken care of with her funds when she was alive.

Question: Will the estate still be held reponsible for those debts 7 years ago?
