 What is the name of your state? GA
Our son has a felony record from when he was about 13 years old. He was convicted for pulling a fire alarm during school hours. This resulted in 2 felony counts: false fire alarm and disturbing a school building. Probation department advised him his record would be sealed at 18. Recently he told the courts had to be petitioned for closure. Does any know exactly what the law is?

Check with an attorney or the juvenile court. This is NOT an automatic procedure in CA and some motion or action has to be filed to get the juvenile record sealed.

Also keep in mind that the record does not go away, it just makes its access more difficult - but law enforcement will almost always have access to it for most reasons.
