I live in California and 3 years ago my husmabd died in a car accident. I had to retain an attorney so I can get the house put in my name since we were young and ignorant and never added my name on the title. Well, because I needed to represent him (his estate), though he was deceased, my attorneys also represented me on the worngful death claim. Our Insurance company keeps telling me they will pay my attorneys the cost of representing me but have lagged for 2 years. Now my attorneys refuse to continue any legal matters including probate. The house is still not in my name, I have 5 children from my spouse and don't know what to do.. I went to the county, paid more fees but the house still isn't tranferred into my name. What do I need to do? Start over

What is the reason that the insurance company is delaying payment?

Have YOU received any money from the wrongful death claim?

Are these attorneys qualified to serve as probate attorneys?

Is probate finished or is it still ongoing?

Normally the title change should have been handled through probate.

Get a probate attorney to advise you through the rest of this process. Your other attorneys have a right to refuse to continue representing you if they have not been paid, although they are silly to lose out on the income they could receive by representing you through probate.
