My husband's sister is in the process of getting a divorce. My husband co-signed her contract with her attorney as she had no money of her own. Many thousands of dollars later the divorce is dragging on (two weeks at trial and now a continuance) and we are going broke. Can we send the attorney a letter saying that we will no longer be responsible for her legal fees? Will it do any good or are we obligated until the bitter end?

Assuming there wasn't a stipulation in the contract agreement to the contrary, of course you can free yourself from payment.
