What is the name of your state? Virginia

Is there something called a "cry-out" witness?? Supposedly a police department in one state can ask someone 1100 miles away to testify in an assault trial just because his girlfriend called the night of the attempted assault and told him what had happened. The problem is that this girl calls several times a week with different stories about how someone is looking at her strange, or someone is stalking her, or someone else may be talking to her inappropriately. According to her, her boyfriend who recently moved away with his family can be called back as a witness in the attempted assault trial. We just need to know if this thing really exist.

Anyone who might have something relevant to say might be called. And most anything relevant that casts doubt on the witness's credibility can be brought up to challenge that testimony.

But, yes, a person 1100 miles away CAN be a witness.
