What is the name of your state?New York

If a parent and child buy a house, and the grant deed describes the ownership as "joint ownership," is this automatically assumed to be "right of survivorship" or "tenancy in common."

In other words for ownership to be in the category of "right of survivorship" must it be explicitly stated.
