What is the name of your state?Indiana

I was fired, unjustly, but none the less fired. The supervisor that fired me is now trashing me on refrences. Is this legal for him to do? It makes trying to pick up the pieces and move on kinda hard. He went above his boss to get me fired he wanted me out of there so bad. Any input is apperciated.

Is this legal for him to do? That depends entirely on what he is saying. It's legal for him to tell anyone the reason for your termination and state anything that he believes to be the truth, including his opinions within reason. He can say you were dishonest if he he has reason to believe you were so. If he says you're a lying SOB and engages in character assassination then that's another matter.

If he's lying or is negligent in what he is saying and you suffer damages as a result, then you may have the basis to bring a suit against him for slander. This would be a civil suit and the burden of proof is on you.
