What is the name of your state? New Mexico
Only two sisters are heirs to this probate. They both were awarded
joint ownership to some real property, in New Mexico. Both sisters live
in Oklahoma.
The younger sister will not pay her share of the back taxes owed on this
real property. She even stated in court, that she believed this real
property was a scam her father had gotten into, and that it did not
exist. (she is not too bright) Well, it does exist, as both sisters
was awarded joint ownership.
Since the younger sister will not pay her share of the taxes, can the
older sister filed a Quick Claim Deed on this real property, pay the back
taxes, and be the sole owner?
If so, how long does older sister have to wait, after probate was finalized,
to file this Quick Claim Deed?
Any advice or suggestion is appreciated.
Thank you,
