Someone is accusing me of verbally assaulting/threatening him, which in fact, I never verbally assaulted him whatsoever. He is trying to take legal matter. Does he have a case against me?

This person was in an argument with someone else and I tried to diffuse the matter by telling (not yelling) them to calm down. He snapped at me, accused me of verbally assaulting him and threatened to take legal action.

He's blowing everything out of proportion and all of his accusations are a complete lie. What can happen to me? Can I get arrested (guilty until proven innocent)?

Im at a loss here, and I dont know what to do. I've never been arrested nor do I ever want to be.

Thanks.

LoL is this a joke. Can he prove you verbally "assulted" him? Probably not. Furthermore what constitutes as verbal abuse? Finally Police in California have better things to do than track down repeat verbal abuse offenders. My suggestion is laugh it off. If verbal abuse was a crime there would be no homeless on the streets in California.
