What is the name of your state? CA

I have a friend here who is a little shaken up and scared about what might happen to her. Here's what happened.

She purchased a motorcycle for a friend and had it insured. The insurance lapsed and the friend knew it, but rode the bike anyway and totalled the bike and two other cars were involved as well. From what I know thre wer minor injuries and everyone went on their way. The friend was completely at fault as he ran head on into one of the cars. It was also found out that this friend did not have a license at the time of the accident. She is not sure what happened with this person's license and phone calls to this friend have been blown off. Can the other people involved in the accident come after the owner of the bike even though she was not involved in any way other than being the owner? What is her responsibility in this situation? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you very much in advance
