What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?I am in Ohio. Incident happened in Vegas.

I went to a very popular show in vegas. I feel that I was harrassed ( and according to information I just got about a complaint filed with hotle security ) and was very much lied to. I need to know if I did something legally wrong and correspondendly if the security had the " right " to do everything they did.

I went to see the BlueManGroup in Vegas with my family. I dressed up " like " one. I however had totally different outfit and face paint. Theirs is a primarily latex based. Plus, the costume I had on was peeling along with inconsistent painting. I guess I have to state what happened step by step. it is a bit long, but it is necessary for a full and complete idea of what actually happened.

I went to the Luxor for the 7:00pm showing of the BlueMan Group on a Saturday. I went with my whole family and my second oldest brother's wife. Prior to the show a young child, approximately 6-7 years old wanted to have a photo taken with me. NOw, I told the family I WAS NOT in anyway associated with the BlueMan Group productions. They said it's ok so I figured take the photo, make the kid happy, then just go sit down. Unfortunately, it did not end there. I will list the incidents in the order they happened:

1) After the first photo ( about one minute ) I was approached by two security guards. The lead guard said he was going to have to escort me out of the theatre ( or at the least threatened to kick me out ) due to copyright infringement. He stated despite me telling the " photo family " I was not associated with BMG, I was infrigning on Copyright Law and was not allowed to do what I did. It was only one photo in which I sat down in my seat immediately afterwards and didn't get up until I was approached by the security guards.

2) They then proceeded to tell me that I would have to stand in dark on side of theatre for end of show due to my paint. They were afraid that due to the " paper scene ", my paint would spread and get over everyone in front of me. I was in the 7th row. Everyone in front of me had a poncho on. They started telling me and accusing me of what will happen, before I had a chance to show them it wouldn't be any problem. ( My paint wasn't a spreadbale sort. ) I had to convince them to let me stay in the theatre as I did in #1.

3) I had to go to the bathroom a little bit later. I had to ask the 2nd security guard where it was. He said over there. He continued to follow me as I made my way to the bathroom saying how they had their " reasons " for doing what they did and how I should forget about it and not say anything.

4) During the paper scene at the end of the show, the 2nd security guard sat right next to my sister and myself. Even after being told everything was ok he sat next to us for the sole purpose of checking up on me and making sure I wasn't doing anything " wrong ".

5) After the show, I was approached by the second security guard. He offered an " apology " but quickly followed by what he said in #3.

6) I had a talk with the general manager ( I think ) of the theatre. He said what happened was due to problems they had with other people dressing up like the BlueMan Group. He however stated that the other people dressed up exactly like them, which totally differed from how I dressed up. I was not given examples or an exact definition of what I did wrong other then I was infringing copyright laws, and that since other people caused problems, despite me doing nothing wrong, they were justified in thier actions.

So, I file a complaint the following Monday when I got home. I file the complaint with security as advised and was told I would be contacted in 2-3 business days. I was not. I called back just today and was told there was never anything written in the report about a followup call. When I told the security person what happened in #3, he was just as surprised as the general manager guy was in #6. So, due to some legalities, I am not able to get either a description, or a copy of my complaint. All I could get is that after all the interviews and the investigations, the final reasoning ( legal reasoning ) for my harassment was copyright infringement.

I need to know is if these people had a right to embarrass and harass me not only in front of my family, but in front of other patrons. To me what they did was and is inexcusable. I have been lied to on several occasions. And from what I have read online, I did not infringe on any copyright laws. this would in turn mean there actions were " illegal " if based upon the idea of copyright infringement. Please any and all advice or help would be appreciated...Francisco

I don't know the answer to your question, but it seems like you're putting an awful lot of energy into this...you still got to see the show, didn't you? It sounds to me like the production company was just doing what they thought they needed to do to protect their copyrights. Is it really worth all the time and energy you've put into it now that it's over?
