What is the name of your state? Ohio

We bought our house used in 1997 with a fenced back yard surrounded by
fields. Since then a builder has constructed houses around ours and on
the last house, informed me that my fence is 6ft over the property line and
that I had 2 weeks to move it or lose it. I thought that all the insurances and
closing fees paid covered me should this happen. I obtained a copy of our
land parcel dimensions and the fence is indeed over the property line.
I would have thought the previous owner would have the correct lot
dimensions before he built the fence, but I guess not.
Is this solely my responsibility now?

Yes, it is your responsibilty. You evidentally did not choose to have a survey done when you bought the place. Lkely the owner before you never bothered with a survey when they built the fence. Had you done so, you would have been informed of the fence being wrongly located BEFORE you closed. As long as it was vacant field near you, no one really cared about the discrepancy. Now they do.
