What is the name of your state? New York
what is the statute of limitations of traffic violations for NY? I am having trouble renewing my license because of 2 tickets that are from 1992 and 1993. (unregistered vehicle)

The SOL is the time frame between the commission of a crime and taking action on it. Obviously the tickets were issued and you failed to take care of them. Thus the SOL does not seem to apply here.

You will have to take care of the citations in some manner to get your license cleared.

If they are from NYC, the PVB very infrequently offers amnesty on old tickets, to the extent that they will waive all penalties and late fees (which is usually the vast majority of the outstanding fine anyway, so it's a good deal). Of course, waiting around for one to occur is not exactly the best thing to do, but keep an eye out.

Otherwise, they stick to your license like flies to poo. Not only does the State wants its money, letting people "off" after X years would only encourage people to dodge their tickets to avoid payment.
