What is the name of your state?California
The HOA is 22 years old. Previous boards would comply when an owner requested that a tree be trimmed or removed because it was blocking a view. That is, up till 2 years ago when our new board members, none who have a view, decided they would not trim trees for views because it did not benefit the entire community. Our president has actually said "We are not a view community." It's not in our CC&R's. The homes were sold 22 years ago, with ads that touted 180 degree panoramic views. All of a sudden, we can't get our views back. What about the 20 years of tree trimming that preceded this board's decisions? Do we have a leg to stand on or do we see our investments smothered by non-native trees that now block our views?

**A: so what is stopping the affected owner from trimming the trees at his own expense?

They won't let us touch them

California.
We have been told that anyone who touches anything in the common area will be fined. There are several owners who are willing to pay for the tree cutting/trimming but we are not allowed to do it. The board, unfortunately, have taken care of themselves with respect to trees; however, other owners are forced to sneak around at night and do their own cutting. Most of these trees are too big for amateurs and any professional would be forced to leave if seen. It's sad. They even wrote in the newsletter that anyone who sees unapproved cutting should call the police.

**A: I suggest you get an opinion from a local attorney. Mine would be sorry, no view.
