We purchased a automotive business. At the time of purchase the prior owner had signed a 5 year agreement with a uniform company to provide uniforms and cleaning. At no time during the sales and purchase of this business were we informed of this contract. The uniform company did not inform us nor did the seller. We have decided to change uniform suppliers and all of the sudden this contract appears. There is a clause in the contract that states if the business is sold the new owner is committed to the contract. My question is, can you be held liable for a contract of which you were not aware existed?
