What is the name of your state?What is the name of your state?new york please help if you can. husband and wife with 2 kids. husband works wife stays at home. husband gets hurt on the job. collects workers comp and applies for ssd. 2 years later is granted ssd . shortly after applies for kids benefits and is granted them. soon after without the husbands knowledge wife somehow convinces ss to change the payee for the kids and make her as such. again without husbands knowledge wife receives 15 months of back pay for the kids. shortly thereafter wife and kids move out and she files for legal separation. husband finds out later about payee switch and back pay when he inquires with ss wondering when he is going to hear something about his kids benefits. did wife illegally become payee??? shouldnt husband have been entitled to be in control of back pay for kids until the time the wife left?? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is entitled to be their rep payee and to receive the back support, essentially this is your child support not extra money for you, it is for your children.
