What is the name of your state? Our son resides in Ohio. Right after enlisting our son got rear ended. He went to ER where they took an x-ray, didn't find anything and advised him to go to a chiropractor. He is seeing one now. In the meantime he came down with mononucleosis which he has not fully recovered from. His chiropractor found his neck to be in critical shape with a pinched nerve going to his heart, lungs and immune system. That is why it is believed he got mono. He was advised by the chiropractor to ask for a medical discharge because he could not gaurantee his neck could ever be right again. Our son called his recruiter who put in the paperwork for that. The military processing station in Columbus is rejecting it on the grounds that they do not recognize chiropractors as being M.D.s. Yet, we have found out the Navy does recognize chiropractors as being an important part of the health care at Bethseda Naval Medical Center. They have their own department there. Our son spent 8 months doing everything the Navy asked of him before he could enlist now through no fault of his own he is injured and they refuse to give him a medical discharge. The chiropractor is seriously concerned that our son could get severly injured or die while being in. We have researched the Navy site called Lifelines and the Bethseda Naval Medical site which both state that the care of Naval personnel is of extreme importance. So how do we fight them on this? Evidently since our son was not active he cannot use JAG to help. We have asked his recruiter do they really want to be resonsible for his health ? They were trying to get him to sign a waver that they would not be responsible. We are extremely upset about this. Is Recruitment so far down in this country that they have to endanger lives to get people to serve ? Seems to us that the Naval Recruitment Department needs adjusting. Any advice will be of great value. Thank you.
