Parking lot Accident, who's fault?

We were attending a reception in California. As were were pulling into a parking space, my elderly aunt in the back seat of my cousin's car parked to our left, swung open their car door. Our car suffered fairly extensive damage left side over the front wheel well. Their door would not close, and also had damage. Who's fault was it?
