I was charged with public sexual indecency to a minor (In Arizona). I was mistaken for the person who committed this act and charged for the crime. There were no witnesses, and no evidence to support the Minor's claim. There was no investigation prior to prosecution. The case is still in progress but would like to know what options I have for having my legal fees reimbursed when the case is dropped. The only problem now is $16k in legal fees that I've been forced to pay for my defense in a case that should never have gone to court in the first place.

Is there nothing I can do? And what's stopping any kid from saying whatever he wants without any sort of proof -- and ruining someones life in the process?
